*by early I mean that my garden was a late baby so she is just coming to now… in what is normally ripe late june /sheepish
ate my first 3 pole beans off the vine these last few days. 6 pole beans climbing one tomato trellis means 2 pairs of pole beans on 2 of the trellis legs…. spent a while yesterday untangling one pair and looping them onto the balcony.
tomatoes have been tied and starting to flower and fruit. many mystery squashes emerging from the mystery plant. no pumpkins yet. just transplanted butternut squash and mystery squash to their final planters. only one planter left to fill with soil courtesy of my suburban farmer friend:)
strawberries are not spreading as much as I thought they would after the transplant but are starting to produce. cucumbers have been directed to climb the railing. turns out one of my cucumbers was actually a squash… not sure how that happened but I’m not complaining.
eggplant seedling transplants still tiny but some new leaves are coming in. have been transplanting a lot of my basil, calendula, and flower seedlings these last few days. malabar spinach seedlings looking strong but not growing as fast as I’d like…. want my greens soon :^
prep work for garden is mostly done now… just a month late. now just have to water and wait. it’s hitting the high 90s here… I’m thankful for my 6am mornings. sunrise, birds, waving at the neighbors and beating the heat
