Darë “Balsamic Fig” Plant-Based Cheese: 4.5/5 yerm

food rating details here

yumminess4/5 it tastes good! but not outstanding

non-vegan similarity: 5/5 can’t tell difference / you can fool most people

price: $11 from Sevananda (July 2023)

6oz size.
very good with some crackers & dried fruit. like rllyyyy good with craisins :3
creamy texture & good smooth slightly tangy cheese flavor (not sharp or pungent). totally recommend for a fancy cheeseboard

I gave full points for non-vegan similarity but *disclaimer* I haven’t had dairy cheese in like 7 years and didn’t have a non-vegan on hand to try the cheese with me lol.

Ethics Notes: Darë is a fully vegan company. They are also a small company based in Asheville, NC so they are local to me 🙂
They don’t have anything on their website about how they source their cashews though… something to be investigated because there’s a lot of issues with cashew growers/processors having really poor working conditions & getting acid burns on their hands from processing raw cashews without proper protection. I’ll try and reach out to Darë about their cashew sourcing.

Our Prep: ate it with some crackers & craisins! it’s easier to spread if you let it sit on the counter for a few minutes out of the fridge

Ingredients/Allergen Stuff: Gluten Free. Soy Free. Contains tree nuts (cashews, coconut)
Cashews, filtered water, kosher salt, coconut milk, cultures, coconut oil, black mission figs, nutritional yeast, balsamic vinegar.
